Water sharing plan merger

The Clyde Unregulated and Alluvial Water Sharing Plan (WSP) and the Deua Unregulated and Alluvial Plans have merged. The Clyde Unregulated and Alluvial WSP has been repealed, and the Deua Unregulated and Alluvial WSP has been amended to include the entirety of the Clyde Unregulated and Alluvial WSP.

This merger does not change individual plan provisions.

There is no change to the current rules of either current plan so there is no impact on existing licence or work approval conditions. The main effect is administrative only, with merged plans simply being consolidated under a single water sharing plan

These changes will come into effect as of 29 May 2026

This work supports our broader objectives to:

  • improve the efficiency and effectiveness of plan management
  • reduce the overall number of water sharing plans across the state
  • deliver time and cost savings

The department will continue to undertake public exhibition and comprehensive stakeholder consultation as part of the formal review and replacement of the plan when it expires.

More detailed information can be found in summary of changes fact sheet.
