Snowy Scientific Committee
The Snowy Advisory Committee replaced the previous Snowy Scientific Committee (SSC). The SSC was established by the NSW Government under the SHC Act in 2008 and advised the NSW Government on environmental releases up until the 2012–13 water year . In 2013, the NSW Government reviewed the structure and function of the SSC to ensure the management of Snowy River environmental water remained fit for purpose and up to date. The review recommended a new Snowy Advisory Committee be established to advise on the pattern and timing of environmental releases for the Snowy River, governed by a more contemporary framework that could better respond to community and government needs. It was recommended that the new committee be expanded to provide a greater range of water expertise and necessary technical skills and include Aboriginal and community representation.
